Schiller’s On Passion and other words scattered in various articles about passion not only refuted neo-classicism which did not show the truth of humanity and created passion for the purpose of passion, but also gave a deep illustration of passion as to its types, performance, its significance to the perfection of humanity, and its relationship with tragedy and loyalty. His view of passion,by combing passion, tragedy, and loyalty, discarded Plato’s and Longinus’ passion theory, and put passion into aesthetic field and human world from the dark learning of metaphysics, thus it has great significance in linking between the preceding and the following in western aesthetic history.
