The Moral Dilemma in Shen Congwen's Novels and Its Aesthetic Presentation

Abstract: On the surface level, Shen Cengwen's novels are conspicuous of morality and they lacked a sense of history.However, from the dual perspectives of history and morality, we find that both historical sense and morality sense are mixed in his novels, making a unique feature of Shen's novels.One of the representations is the oblique and wandering standpoint of the narrator, the other is the infiltration of the two, i.e. history is questioned by morality, whereas morality is inspected by history, which caused such aesthetic features as ideality, tragedy, and embodiment in his novels.
