Abstract: The rural clans during the Republic of China (1912-1949) are characterized by fading and variation.Due to the occurrence and development of modern ways of production,political reform,the shock of social revolution as well as the inducement of western ideology,culture and way of life,the clan system shows a fading tendency compared with the traditional one.However,the rural clan also begins to accept some modern concepts and represents certain new features of development and variation.
