摘要:作为20世纪中国设计艺术学研究历程中一位承前启后的关键人物,沈从文的后半生从文学创作转向物质文化研究的背后固然有时局环境变化的外部原因,也是遵循了他一生对实用美术情有独钟的“内在理路”。从学术史的角度看,沈从文从“工艺”到文化的视野的拓展、“小心求证”和“图像学”的研究方法与相关成果,无论就其广度还是深度而言都比同时期的实用美术研究更为自觉和深化,相对于此前实用美术内部研究的空疏学风具有一种范式转换的意义。沈从文在物质文化领域内的相关研究间接影响到了1980年代以来设计艺术学中的若干分支学科的建设,是中国现代设计艺术学学科建构过程中的重要环节。

Abstract: As a key man to link the past and future of China’s art design study in the 20th century,Shen Congwen turned from literature creation to material cultural study in his afterlife for exterior reasons.It was also because that he had followed his lifelong affection for practical fine art.From the perspective of academic history,Shen’s study methods and relevant results were deeper and more conscious than the practical fine art of his time.His study in the scope of material culture has indirectly influenced the construction of study branches of art design since the 1980s,and is an important point in the history of China’s modern art design.
