    It has been one hundred years since ethnology was introduced into China. In 1933, Lin Chunsheng and Rui Yifu did some investigation on the Miao people in Western Hunan and started the ethnologic research here.Then,Shi Qigui, a native Miao scholar, succeeded him and made considerable progress in the research.After the founding of the Republic, scholars such as Yang Chengzhi initiated the research on Tujia people, and Pan Guangdan was the great successor who brought the research to its culmination. In the past 20 years, the ethnological research workers in Western Hunan have accompl ished a lot. They have saved a great deal of valuable materials, published a lot of works and cultivated a number of native scholars.

    This paper probes into the working process of conscious thinking f rom the angle of dynamic chaos with the conclusion that the nature of conscious thinking is the purposeful, transconventional, random and automatic organization of various thinking elements within the brain and that theworking process of  conscious thinking is one of the development of a single factor into a hadron or compound hadron, and finally, with the sudden amplification of the inner thinking system, obtaining a new and orderly thinking mode.

    Karl Marx says: “Modern history is one of the urbanization of the countryside instead of the countrification of the city as was the case of ancient times.” China’s urbanization is still of a low level with a percentage of only 30. 39. Experiences in the past two decades show that the low level of urbanization has seriously hindered the growth of our economy.To gurantee the speed of economic increase set by the government, urbanization is a key problem to be solved in the next-stage economic development.Urbanization, however, cannot be advanced merely by urban development, instead, it must be obtained through building up small towns,whose development is the very core of China’s urbanization.

    Wi th the coming of the knowledge economy era, the “famous brand” strategy has become the core of a new circle of economic development, which not only helps to rationalize industrial structure, eliminate repeated construction, and shape pillar industries, but also provides favourable cultural backgrounds for the readjustment of industrial structure.Through an analysis of some examples, this paper arrives at a conclusion that there exists a posititive correlation between the famous brand strategy and the readjustment of industrial structure.

    Owing to various reasons, poor people in the minority areas are apt to develop a dependent psychology upon social and governmental support. There are both objective causes and subjective causes for this dependent psychology.The main subjective causes are as follows: Repeated social reverses suffered by the poor people contribute to their physiological mechanism for this psychology; ethnical inferiority complex is the fundamental base of this psychology; and certain backward cultural concepts form the ideological basis of this psychology.

    As a bridge to technical knowledge and economic production, vocational and technological education is seen as a transformer which can convert science and technology into practical productive forces as well as a changing field where populat ion load can be made into high quality manpo wer resources. Therefore, developing vocational and technological education in the rural areas is of great signi ficance to the realization of the grand plan of western exploitation. In recent years, vocational and technological educaton in these areas, combining itself with the regional economic development, has made some progress both in the enlargement of school- running size and in the perfection of school-running patterns. Nevertheless, there are still many problems and difficulties to be solved.     The striking themes, extravagant narration, and imposition of creative subject upon the fate of characters in the root- seeking novels of 1980s all reveal the anxiety of a transitional society. Shen Congwen, in his novel “Count rymen”, gives an artist’s answer to the problems of a future society when the world will inevitably become economically and culturally integrated.He deals with the problem of nervousness and anxiety of the modern society from anangle of plural is tic aesthetics and creates a lot of excellent literay works. Af ter all, the novelists of the root- seeking school of the 1980s never went beyond the limitation of the current tendency, and never rose to the level of Shen Congwen.
