On Mao Zedong’s Thought of Maintaining Integrity for Party Members and Cadres

Abstract: Mao Zedong’s awareness of maintaining integrity accompanied his revolutionary ideals.From making it run through the construction of the army and the Party in the New Democratic Revolution Period,to worries about the future of the Party and the state before and after the founding of the People's Republic of China,to launching a series of movements to maintain integrity,his thought of maintaining integrity has gradually come to maturity in practice.The ideological origins of Mao’s emphasis on  maintaining integrity are mainly as follows:to learn from historical lessons so as to avoid making the same mistake again;deep-rooted idea of class struggle;and preventing revisionism.Mao’s main ways of performing official duties honestly included following the mass line and relying on democracy to curb corruption,carrying through movements of Party consolidation and rectification without cessation,building discipline inspection organs to provide organizational guarantee,punishing corrupt members severely to serve as a warning to others and making full use of newspaper and other media to form good atmosphere of public opinion.
