Chinese Intellectuals’ Ideological Inclination after the “9.18” Incident——An Investigation Focus on “ Dreams of the New Year”

Abstract: The solicit articles in Oriental Magazine in November 1932 revealed the ideological inclination of most Chinese intellectuals in the early 30s of the 20th century.They demanded that,firstly,the Kuomintang government should change its policy of compromising with Japanese into an active resisting one;secondly,Kuomintang should get rid of its mono-autocracy,set up a constitutional government,and give liberty and other rights to the people so that all the anti-Japanese powers could be united;thirdly,economy should be developed,people’s life improved,and an equal society built.Later,with the increasing national crisis,these demands became stronger and stronger.After the “7.7” Incident,many intellectuals involved themselves into the Anti-Japanese War and sought the “Dreams of the New Year” of the intellectuals and the whole nation.
