Abstract: Freedom was a concept implying negative in ancient Chinese ideology.In the long feudal society,it was tightly bound with ethical code until the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century when it touched western political civilization and was gradually noticed as a positive spiritual value.It has undergone a process of being negative-acceptabe-called-mistaken in Chinese traditional ideology,a process which was in step with the way of thinking and the social development.Even now,our understanding to freedom still needs to be widened.
