Abstract: Shen Congwen and Yasunari Kawabata,the literary giants in the two Eastern countries,China and Japan,show a surprising similarity in their aesthetical pursuit in their respective literary world.Melancholy,sorrow,sadness and loneliness constitute the basic tint of their works.This article tries to disclose the deepest psychological motives of their creative writings and make a comparative analysis upon this conspicuous phenomenon.
