Abstract: Mental emanciation is the precursor of a philosophical revolution. European Renaissance, China’s May 4th New Culture Movement , and the Discussion the Criterion of Truth were the three great mental emancipation movements in human history, which promoted the de velopment of philosophy of the time in varying de grees. Especially the Discussion of the criterion of Truth greatly emancipated people’s minds and ushered in a new era for the progress of philosophy in China.Today, further emancipat ion of mind is a must for China’s philosophy to advance and prosper.
