Criticismto and Absorption from Buddhism of the Huxiang School

Abstract: Huxiang School criticizes Buddhism from four aspects:the first is that Buddhism sees all things as “illusion”;the second is that Buddhist doctrines are mental;the third is Buddhism's separation of mind and reason;and the fourth is Buddhism's asceticism.Meanwhile,Huxiang School is also influenced by Buddhism in a certain degrees.Despite their criticism to Buddhism,Huxiang School has close connection with the monks.“Ontology of Nature” is an important idea in Hu Hong's book named Words of Wisdom,which is the solid foundation of Huxiang School.It also has complex connection with Buddhism.
