Abstract: That culture has a decisive effect on literature is almost commonly acknowledged,which however does not mean that the relationship between culture and literature can be interpreted equivalently.Literariness does not stress on practical “utility” but on spiritual “function”.Its enlightenment does not come from the writer’s yielding approval but from his respectful reflection on culture.That literature “TOUCHES” culture does not mean that literature is in antagonism to culture but that literature respects but is not confined to culture.This “TOUCH” can not be comprehended as “underestimating and rejecting something”,still less “literature overstepping culture”.
