摘要/Abstract

摘要：“边城”写作不仅描绘出被现代都市生活放逐的湘西一隅，更为出色的是，它在现代性挑战面前鸣奏出沈从文这位现代中国作家内心倔强而复杂的音律。与中国社会开始迅速向现代化转型的背景相关，20世纪20年代末至40年代的“边城”写作生动形象地说明，在逐渐被现代生活遗弃的乡土边地究竟还有着怎样的事情使人怦然心动，怎样的人性之光仍然让现代人神往。作为文学艺术与社会发展不平衡性的一个表征，“边城”写作使我们在其中体会丰富多样的人性同时，也不能不反思现代社会一体化构想的缺欠，以及在现实理性所解释的范围之外，文学艺术还有一个多么广阔的关于人性尚有待发掘和添补的表现空间。

Abstract: “Border City” not only depicts the banished remote life of Western Hunan,but also tunes out the author's stubborn and complicated voice in defiance of challenges of modern society.The book,written between 1920s and 1940s,tells a vivid story of what happened in that banished remote area that touch the very heart of modern man and the brilliance of human nature existing there that fascinates modern men and women.As a sign of the unbalanced development of literature and society,“Border City” enables us the experience the variety of human nature and makes us reflect on the deficiency of the idea of building a union of society.It also tells us that,beyond the scope of realistic and rational interpretation,literature still has a broad space in depicting and expressing human nature.
