Abstract: Zhu Xi considers “Zai Qinmin”in the first sentence of The Great Learning should be “Zai Xinmin”,and he interprets the theoretical connotation of “Xinmin” in the unified interconnection of the three guiding principles:“Minde”,“Xinmin” and “Zhiyuzhishan”,that is,the realization of a naturalization of social unity with “Zhiyuzhishan” as the connotation guidance and by means of political cultivation. If we regard Wenwang as the model,“Xinmin” thus becomes an inevitable phase in the diachronic process of moral subject’s self-visualization from the inner part to the outer one.If we take Confucius as the model,it becomes an occasional event limited by current trend in the process of subject’s ultimate morality, only having pure sense of outer kingliness.Being negative with each other, the coexistence of “Wengwang’s way” and “Confucius’ way” in Zhu’s interpretation reveals highly inner tension and dispels the certainty and inevitability of ultimate morality.

Key words: three guiding principle, Xinmin, Wenwang&rsquo, s way, Confucius&rsquo, way
