An Ethical Review of Environmental Law

Abstract: Environmental ethics is to extend basic social ethics to the nature and attach importance to the ecological balance of nature as a main tool value.This paper analyzes the necessity of reviewing environmental law in the ethical perspective,and discusses the two levels of relationship between environmental law and ethics:on the value level,the environmental law should be subject to ethical evaluation and ethical values orientation;on norm level,environmental law andenvironmental ethics are complementary norms.On the basis of this view,this paper discusses the possibility of ethical review.Finally,the paper indicates that the ethical review of environmental law should focus on two issues:i.e.what kind of ethics can be used to review environmental law,namely the choice of ethical mode and the scope of ethical review of environmental law.
