Abstract: Xu Fuguan holds that morality and art will fuse to form an artistic appeal at superlative level. His judgment on the transformation and declination of artistic spirit indicates that he also admits the separation between morality and art.The conflicts between morality and art at the noumenon and empirical levels originate from the long-term conflicts between Confucianism idea and historic reality, and also originate from the conflicts among the modern arts in what Xu Fuguan interprets and regulates in his artistic system.Confucianism spirit of art,as an open and increasingly mature process,is continuously constructing itself facing all these conflicts.
