On Hobbes’Rhetorical Methods and His Ideals of Civil Philosophy

Abstract:  In order to construct his civil philosophy,Hobbes borrows the method of rhetoric.Hobbes once did hesitate between rhetoric and philosophy,but he finally realized that only by the combination of eloquence and wisdom,rhetoric and reason,was he able to construct his scientific civil philosophy.As to the classical rhetoric,the way Hobbes adopts is its other way around,that is,the attitude of critical inheritance.
