Abstract: Linguistic philosophy is one of the most important fields in contemporary western philosophy.Various linguistic schools are examining language in a more detailed way now.To deeply understand linguistic philosophy,some important issues on its origin inevitably deserve consideration.This paper discusses several basic conclusions of Humboldt’s linguistic thought,trying to help us better understand the tradition,development,and the core of western linguistic philosophy.
