A Narration of the Youth of Decadent School of the 20th century——Review on Mao Dun’s Corrosion

Abstract: In 1927 when Mao Dun was forced to be engaged in literary creation from the Party’s political work,he wrote his trilogy Corrosion to expose his psychological state of decadence and distress as well as that of the youth of that time.The novels,quite different from the decadent school of the western world,belongs to a realistic one of the school,whose obvious features lie in illusory life experience,strong thought of revenge,hysterical spiritual world,in pursuit of strong sense organ incentive,indulging in trifling pleasure of living and their fear of the future.
