Abstract: As an archetypical image representing a “female space”,“Women’s Kingdom” recurs in many literary works.A comparative study of Herland by  Charlotte Parkinson Gilman and Dream of Red Mansion by Cao Xueqin shows that although the authors are different from each other in terms of culture, nationality and sex, they do share common feminist ideas. The “Women’s Kingdom” imagined by the two authors is not only a challenge against the patriarchal culture but also a vision of a harmonious world.

Key words: feminist utopia, women&rsquo, s kingdom, androgyny, Herland, Dream of Red Mansion
