Analysis of “Avoidance Phenomenon” in College English  Writing Based on the Cultural Context

Abstract: Chinese college students prefer to use the words and expressions whose meaning is more broad and inappropriate to English writing instead of those complex and specific ones so as to ensure less error rate in their English writing.The “avoidance phenomenon” in college English writing is due to the cross-cultural factors and culture default of college students themselves,which have greatly impacted the English writing quality and the rise of the level of college students’ English writing.Understanding this,it is important to analyze“avoidance phenomenon” and its origin,focus on improvement of college students’ cross-cultural thinking ability,fully implement the “dichotomy teaching system”,and form the “six steps” of autonomous classroom learning mode,so as to eliminate the “avoidance phenomenon” in college English writing.
