Abstract: Tusi system is an administrative system popular in China’s southwestern regions during the Yuan,Ming, and Qing Dynasties, whose birth and ending are all rooted in noble autocracy, therefore its ending should mean the ending of autocracy. However, due to various reasons, opinions differ on the ending of it in the previous research.Since Tusi system has existed for more than six hundred years and effectively ruled nearly two million square kilometers in China’s southwestern regions,it should have its validity and legitimacy.Understanding this, the ending of Tusi system should be an unavoidable research topic. It is clear that with the outbreak of the Revolution of 1911,Tusi system has come to an end.The follow-up influence should not be a factor influencing the determination of the ending of Tusi system,as this is a historical problem that all systems have.

Key words: Tusi system, ending, residual Tusi
