Abstract: The  Jian an vigor and style was accepted by later literary critics as the mains tream and the typical creative pattern of the poems of the Middle Ancient Times. Since the development of Jian an literaturewas a diachronic course, and the situation of individual writers in different periods was quite different ,we should not separate ourselves from the specific history when we try to understand and interpret those creat ive patterns. Cao Zhi has always been regarded as a valuable literay image. If we consider this belief of later writers in Cao Zhi as an important cultural phe-nomenon,we may find that Cao Zhi’s works, especially his later literary activities, didn’ t manifest in terms of flowery language or exquisite forms, but marked the establ ishment of the creative patterns and the lifestyle of literary men.
