Abstract: Multi-cultural literary reception is one of the important factors that influence literary composing.The reading of western literary works stimulated Lao She to write.Lao She’s novel narration was greatly influenced by Dickens,whose nature,family circumstances and social stratum are similar to his.His techniques in portraying characters are close to Dickens’ in portraying characters from the appearance in a comic manner,in applying hyperbole,unique metaphor and overstating language.
