Abstract: Some of the campus buildings in Xiamen University and Jimei University are called "Jiageng Buildings",named after the patriotic overseas Chinese Chen Jiageng (Tan Kah Kee).Beautiful in appearance and harmonious in nature, each building is given a unique name. Some of the names come from classic works, some from literary quotations, and some are related to historical figures, all elegant and having rich cultural implications. The naming of the buildings has four characteristics.First,it comes from a wide range of sources, with accurate literary quotation and profound meaning;second,it forms an ingenious combination with the function of the building itself;third,it cultivates people through culture, making the building an "education master";and fourth,it makes good use of a person's name to inspire future generations and a place name to express the love to hometown. The names of each building, with deep cultural implication, show Mr. Chen Jiageng's educational concept of "cultivating people in a cultural environment".
