Abstract: There is an inseparable connection between social science research and public policy. This paper, taking 36 housing policies for transferred rural population and 447 related academic documents since 2000 as its research object, studying the policy literature in a quantitative way,and analyzing the academic literature from the perspective of genealogy, aims to explore the interactive relationship between housing policies for transferred rural population and the academic literature at different stages. The findings of this study include the following:significant thematic changes exist in housing policies for transferred rural population and the relevant academic researches at different stages featuring long-term,complex and nonlinear interaction;and academic research positively affects further policy making decisions. This paper thus identifies the enlightenment model, knowledge industry model, cascading model, and interaction model that indirectly affect policy changes in Chinese social science research. It calls for further research on the impact of practices on policy research and the interaction between the two to promote the development of Chinese knowledge politics.
