Abstract: As a kind of "householder religious service providers",xiangtou (mysterious wizards acting as intermediaries between men and gods)  usually have to exhibit their charisma in order to construct and maintain their authority.However,if they stay on this household pattern and only provide religious service for individuals,they will be alienated and marginalized instead of effectively maintaining and expanding their authority in the village.In the case of Fengcun,xiangtou pay more attention to their rules in the village besides their charisma.They lead and organize religion group to take religious actions.It is by their actions from household to group,and from private profits to public life that xiangtou in Fengcun could consolidate and expand their own authority more effectively in the rural life.
