Abstract: Since the removal of Tusi office in the second year under Emperor Yongzheng’s sovereignty (1724)and the movement of “Gaituguiliu” (bureaucratization of native officers) in the sixth year under Emperor Yongzheng’s sovereignty (1728),“Laosicheng” town has become an abandoned site.Years of natural corrosion and human damage made almost nothing left in the former Tusi office. However, compared with other Tusi sites in the neighboring areas of Sangzhi and Baojing, the underground part of “Laosicheng” town are relatively well-preserved due to the protection of local government and civilians. After the founding of New China, and especially in the recent years,a series of policies and scientific plans have been issued, which has highlighted the protection of the ancient town.
