Conflict between Justice and Democracy:A Research Based on Classical Political Philosophy

Abstract: During the recent research about political philosophy the negative relationships between democracy and justice have seemed to be enclosed.But there are a lot of oppositions between democracy and justice,which are mainly based on the followings:democracy is not only the approach to constructing and reinforcing justice in classical political philosophy,but also plays the role of weakening and eliminating justice.From the perspective of distributive justice,the opposition between justice and democracy lies in the opposition between being naturally right and being artificially equal.Justice demands that distributing resources with social meaning should be based on interpersonal natural ranking and the meaning that  carried by resources.While democracy requires the distribution should be equally.And from the perspective of commutative justice,the opposition between justice and democracy lies in the opposition of the market and politics.And from the perspective of commutative justice,justice refers to that people participate in non-public activities under the principle of being voluntary and equal.And from the perspective of corrective justice,the opposition between justice and democracy lies in the opposition between judicial powers and popular sovereignty.What justice requires is the rule of law but not democracy.
