On Custom of Reproduction From Images in the Songs

Abstract: Reproduction is always the core of the conventional activities during Xian-Qin Period in Ancient China. In the poems on love and marriage in The Songs there appear a great variety of images reflecting people’s strong wish of bearing more children.These images cover such plants and animals as peaches, Chinese prickly ashes,melons,fishes,worms and so on.
