Abstract: The really significant aesthetic phenomenon during the 1990s was the controversy and reflection on Chinese practical aesthetics.The controversy focused on the transcending criticism to post practical aesthetics and the creative maintenance of practical aesthetics.In fact, the controversy could be regarded as the reflection to practical aesthetics.Li Zehou, Liu Gangji,and Jiang Kongyang, the representatives of practical aesthetics, reflected practical aesthetics of their own and proved that practical aesthetics was an opening and developing system.Though there are still limitations and inner contradictions within it, practical aesthetics has contributed much to modern Chinese aesthetics, and is the most promising school in modern Chinese aesthetics.
