摘要：湘西各民族都有自己传统的社区组织,如湘西的瞿氏家族是一个规模适中的土家族家族。从瞿氏家族结构的现状来看,既有其积极的一面, 又有消极的一面,因此, 必须因势利导, 趋利避弊,充分发挥其积极作用。

Abstract: Every minority nationality of Western Hunan has its own traditional community. Take the Qu family for instance. Its is a medium-size patriarchal clan of Tujia nationality. Seen from present-day status quo, its is clear that the clan has merits as well as demerits.Therefore, society should make the best use of its good elements, and rest rain its bad factors.

Key words: the Tujia nationality in Western Hunan, the Qu family, make use of the good elements and avoid the bad factors
