Abstract: This paper analyzes the pure love and sincere friendships of the scientists and the ideal cooperation between social institute and scientists in Sinclair Lewis’s Arrowsmith.Western academic circles have mainly focused on the negative ethical dimension of criticizing American medical culture in Arrowsmith for a long time.This paper investigates into the positive and admirable points in American cultural spirits in Lewis’s fiction from the perspective of narrative ethics.The approach helps us understand more about the attitude of the Lewis’s narrative ethics and the cultural spirit of America’s nation in his novel.
